I watched V for Vendetta again (for the 5th time I think) and I wonder why it never had a cult similar to Akira? Your opinion?

When you make a live adaptation, it's expected that you'll be as faithful to the source as possible. It's basically transposing what you get in the original medium into something that could happen in real life. Difference is Akira was an anime adaptation, and traditionally, manga to anime adaptations have always had a bit of leeway in that area...now, the live action Akira that's scheduled...will probably get as bad a receiving as V, if they don't nail Tetsuo just right
That's a good point edy, although aren't the two in a way "inspiring" people to a revolution to change the government or the society?
Didn't know there will be a live-action Akira, most manga or anime with a live-action adaptation fails to capture the original.
Yah, I like V for Vendetta, I get more inspired by it than Akira (I guess Akira is too, dunno, 'gloomy' and touches on many issues and facets of society, while V is direct and more concentrated).
It is a lot more inspiring than Akira. As you say, Akira shows many facets of society, mostly that of a society which is past saving, so it has to be started over. In V for Vendetta you get a possibility of the people fighting back
Ahh, yes that's it, you are right. In Akira it is more of the society which has to be started over, while in V for Vendetta it is more of the government that needs a restart.
I think that explains why Akira's cult are in areas where the society itself has become the problem while V for Vendetta in countries where the people think the government has to be changed (like here in the Philippines hehehe :p )
These two movies are something. It captured a reality that we either are turning a blind eye and deaf ear on, or we just got used to it we do not know if we're sleeping or awake.
